Undergraduate Research in Action: Kaitlyn Koob Turns Statistics into Real-World Impact
Statistics and Data Analysis student Kaitlyn Koob is gaining valuable hands-on research experience through multiple faculty-mentored projects in the Department of Statistics and Data Science.
Through the department’s Keno Project under Professor Matthew McIntosh , she has applied statistical methods to real-world questions involving lottery probabilities and transparency. During Summer 2026, she also participated in the College of Arts and Science’s Summer Research Exposure Program (SREP), working with Professor Sounak Chakraborty on research involving causal inference, artificial intelligence, and clinical trials.
Kaitlyn’s experience highlights the many opportunities available to Mizzou undergraduates to work closely with faculty, develop research skills, and apply classroom learning to important real-world problems.
