Doctoral students presented emerging research and innovative applications of statistics, data science and AI during a series of five-minute talks.
On Sept. 23, 2026, the Center for Spatio-Temporal Statistics and AI hosted a student speed talks event featuring research presentations from doctoral students in the Department of Statistics and Data Science. During the showcase, 12 Ph.D. students each delivered a five-minute presentation highlighting recent and ongoing projects, offering attendees a glimpse into the diverse questions, methods and applications being explored by Mizzou's emerging researchers.
The event showcased a wide range of topics spanning statistics, data science and artificial intelligence, while giving students an opportunity to share their work with faculty, peers and other members of the university community. The concise presentation format encouraged clear communication of complex ideas and exposed attendees to a variety of research perspectives in a single program.
By placing graduate student scholarship at the forefront, the event highlighted the depth of research talent within the department and provided valuable experience for students as they refined their presentation skills, received feedback and engaged with a broader academic audience. The showcase underscored the important role graduate researchers play in advancing discovery and developing innovative solutions to real-world challenges.
